Since a very popular food chain-who shall remain nameless to avoid cravings-recently announced that it will be serving up #alldaybreakfast, I immediately thought of the #alldaycalories we might start consuming. If you want breakfast all day the healthy way, keep reading for a few delicious breakfast ideas you can have all day every day.
Egg, Turkey Bacon and Spinach Frittata: There is literally nothing easier than this meal (except maybe a boiled egg). Simply (1) pour 2 scrambled eggs into pan (or egg whites), (2) add chopped spinach and cooked turkey bacon pieces to the eggs as they are cooking. You can always add veggies and other toppings of your choice which is the beauty of the fritatta! (3) Flip the whole thing over to cook all the way through and enjoy!
Wheat Toast, Avocado and Eggs: If you prefer a quick breakfast, or breakfast-inspired snack you can have anytime of day this is for you. (1) Simply toast two slices of wheat bread. (2) Cut ripe avocado into long, flat pieces and arrange on toast. (3) Top avocado with boiled egg slices, or a fried egg. (4) Top with salt and pepper to taste. If you don’t want the eggs, the avocado on toast is delicious by itself!
Crock Pot Oatmeal: this meal is perfect when you need something to stick to your bones and warm you up from the inside out. All you need is apples, steel cut oats, brown sugar and some butter and about 6-8 hours. Pop this sucker in the slow cooker before you go to bed, and wake up to a healthy warm breakfast. Get the full recipe here.
Egg Muffins: Who knew you could make breakfast in a muffin pan? For these protein-packed cuties, (1) add chopped, uncooked veggies, meat, cheese and seasonings to each muffin hole. Then (2) pour a mixture of whole and egg whites (also works with egg whites only) to fill each muffin hole leaving a bit of room at the top for rising. (3) Bake for 20 -25 minutes at 350 and have your breakfast all week!
