When I started this blog, it marked my decision to go after a fitness certification, so that I could finally chase my dreams of becoming a fitness extraordinaire! Well after a little bit of delay after a hectic but fun summer, I am FINALLY CERTIFIED!! I can now add “GFI” to my name for Group Fitness Instructor. Those who have known me for a while know that I’ve always been obsessed with workout DVDs, gym classes, and kick-butt routines, so I can finally join in all the fun and start teaching!
Now that I’ve done my happy dance (literally of course), I’ve sent my texts, and I’ve made my formal announcement on Facebook… NOW WHAT??
So far, I have a come up with a few steps, but if anyone out there reading this has advice, please let me know! I’m very new and I’m all ears!
Step 1: Pass the exam… DONE & DONE… I am currently waiting on my official certificate!
Step 2: Contact gyms and employers… I was nervous to do this too soon because I was worried that I might not pass this exam on the first try! But now that the exam is over, I am already emailing and calling my local gyms and businesses who may have openings for a new fitness instructor. *Again if you have some leads in the D.C. area, let me know!
Step 3: Plan workouts… I have a ton of routines written down, but now that I know a little something about this whole planning process, I have a lot more work to do! So far, I know I want to teach strength training routines, particularly for women who aren’t inclined to lift weights. Let’s get lifting ladies!!!) Then, I have some cool ideas for interval and circuit training but I just need to get everything all out on paper! So much is flying around in my head right now, and I’m so excited to have a chance to make a business (no matter how small) out of something I love to do!
But at this very moment, I want to pause to say thank you to my family and friends who have supported me along the way and sent wishes of good luck all this time! I’m so grateful to have you all in my corner and I hope you know who you are! Everyone else, thank you for reading, and I promise to keep you all up to date on my journey along the way!
Stay tuned, and of course, Keep It Moving!
